NEW DELHI: Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) kept their playoff hopes alive in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 with a stunning six-wicket win over Texas Super Kings, chasing down 174 with eight balls to spare in Pomona.Texas Super Kings looked set for victory after opener Saiteja Mukkamalla played a brilliant innings of 80 off 55 balls. After a strong start in the powerplay, Mukkamalla accelerated in the latter stages, while Wiaan Mulder's quickfire 29 helped the Super Kings post a competitive 173 for 5.
Sunil Narine was the standout bowler for LAKR, picking up two wickets for just 22 runs.However, LAKR's chase got off to a shaky start. They slipped to 63 for 3 in the 11th over and needed 111 runs from the final nine overs, with defeat appearing likely.The game changed dramatically when Rovman Powell joined Colin Munro at the crease. The pair produced a match-winning partnership of 107 runs in just 41 balls, completely shifting the momentum in LAKR's favour.Powell led the charge with a blistering knock of 73 off just 27 balls, smashing bowlers all around the ground. At the other end, Munro provided the perfect support, remaining unbeaten on 55 as LAKR completed the chase comfortably.The victory ended LAKR's three-match losing streak and lifted them from sixth to fourth place in the standings. In a rare situation, all six teams in MLC 2026 now have six points each, with net run rate becoming the only factor separating them.
