A mobile phone was once again seized from a prisoner in the Kannur Central Jail on Thursday (August 28, 2025), making it the fourth such incident this month.
The device was recovered from Sujith, a convict lodged in the first block, who was caught while speaking on the phone around 10.35 a.m. Jail authorities immediately confiscated the handset.
Following a complaint filed by Joint Superintendent K.K. Renil, the Kannur Town police registered a case. The incident comes a day after another phone was seized from an under-trial prisoner, raising concerns over recurring breaches in jail security.
