An actor-model has filed a complaint against two men associated with the Bengali film industry, accusing them of sexually exploiting her over a period stretching from July 2023 to August 17, 2025, the police said on Tuesday.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that the two accused repeatedly engaged in non-consensual sexual acts with her at multiple locations both within Kolkata and outside the city.

She told the police that the accused approached her with promises of giving her acting roles in Bengali films, and under this pretext, forced her into sexual acts on several occasions.

The complainant further alleged that after these incidents took place, the two men threatened her to remain silent, warning her not to go to the police.

She said that the threats included references to their close association with the ruling party in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress. The accused would tell the woman that they had the full support of the party and use the party’s name to intimidate her into staying silent.

The woman finally approached the Kasba police station in Kolkata, where she submitted a formal complaint. Based on her statement, the police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and have begun an investigation into the matter.

Earlier in June this year, a horrifying rape case of a 24-year-old woman at South Calcutta Law College was registered in Kasba police station.

Three men were arrested in connection with the case that drew sharp reactions and which also came over six months after a similar crime at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital led to city and nationwide protests.

During the investigation, a medical examination confirmed the survivor's allegations and there was evidence of forceful penetration, bite marks and nail scratches on her body.
