AS A Delhi court on Tuesday refused to take cognizance of the ED chargesheet in the National Herald money laundering case against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others, the Congress claimed the “illegality” of the Narendra Modi government and its “politically motivated prosecution stands fully exposed”.

While most of the allies of Congress were silent, the party got support from Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin who said “the judiciary has once again exposed the Union BJP government’s misuse of central agencies to target opposition leaders”.
“Without any legal basis, such cases are pushed only to harass and malign political rivals. With truth on their side and no fear, CPP chairperson Sonia Gandhi and my brother Rahul Gandhi stand vindicated, even as the BJP remains hell bent on hounding the Gandhi family for standing firm on secularism and constitutional values which it cannot tolerate,” Stalin said.

Arguing that “truth has prevailed, and truth will always prevail”, the Congress said “the mala fide and illegality of Modi government stand fully exposed”.
“The conspiratorial FIR orchestrated by the BJP in the National Herald case, born out of the Modi-Shah political vendetta, has been quashed by the court. The case was blatantly politically motivated, driven by the BJP government’s mounting frustration over the Congress party consistently exposing its failures over the last 11 years,” Congress media department head Pawan Khera said.

“By quashing FIR in the National Herald case, the judiciary has delivered a decisive rebuke to the BJP’s politics of persecution, exposing its political vendetta and its mindless attempts to hound the Opposition. The BJP government has relentlessly targeted the Gandhi family through the ED, CBI, and Income Tax Department…The quashing of the FIR clearly demonstrates that the BJP’s politics is rooted in vendetta, intimidation, persecution, and fear-mongering, carried out at the behest of those with a criminal mentality,” he said.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge reminded people that when false allegations were levelled to defame the National Herald, the party and its leaders, he had said that “if we didn’t fear the British, what are these BJP-RSS or Modi-Shah worth?”
“Today, the court too has declared the Modi government’s actions illegal and foiled this conspiracy hatched with the malicious intent of political revenge,” Kharge said.
