‘Mohiniyattam’ first look: Saiju Kurup to return with a ‘Kill or Die’ fun ride

Saiju Kurup starrer ‘Mohiniyattam’ is going to be ‘brutally fun’. A sequel to the 2024 sleeper hit ‘Bharathanatyam’, the upcoming Malayalam film brings back the same cast, including lead actor Saiju Kurup.

The makers have now unveiled the film's first look poster. The first look poster of ‘Mohiniyattam’ features the main characters from the first instalment looking terrified at something. In the background, one can also see a fan with a rope tied for someone to hang. The poster is undoubtedly interesting, and the makers also confirmed the film will be ‘brutally fun’. What you should know about ‘Mohiniyattam’

Krishnadas Murali directs ‘Mohiniyattam’; he debuted with its prequel ‘Bharathanatyam’. For the upcoming film, the makers retained the principal cast, including Saiju Kurup, Kalaranjini, Sreeja Ravi, Jinil Rex, and Jivin Rex, who will reprise their roles. However, this time they also added new joiners, including Jagadish, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vinay Forrt, rapper Baby Jean, Nisthar Sait, and Santhosh K Nayar. The film began shooting in November 2025, and the team wrapped up in January this year.

Meanwhile, ‘Bharathanatyam’, released in 2024, did not perform well in theatres despite its solid content. However, the film started winning praise once it premiered digitally. Many netizens confessed they missed the laugh riot in theatres. TOI ranked ‘Bharathanatyam’ 3 out of 5 stars, and the review read, “Krishnadas Murali’s Bharathanatyam is a humorous, yet thoughtful exploration of a family's struggle with a sudden and unexpected crisis. The film deftly balances comedy with drama, turning a potentially tragic situation into a narrative about love, acceptance, and the simplicity of life.”
