Mohit Sonakiya assumes charge as Vijayawada DRM

An officer of Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), Mohit Sonakiya, took charge as the South Central Railway (SCR) Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), on Monday. Former DRM Narendra A. Patil, meanwhile, has been transferred.

Mr. Mohit Sonakiya joined the Indian Railways in February 1998 as Assistant Electrical Engineer (Rolling Stock), Ghaziabad, Northern Railway.

Prior to taking over as Vijayawada DRM, he served as Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Railway Wheel Factory. He has held key positions in the Indian Railways, including the role of General Manager (Rolling Stock), Director, Research Designs and Standards Organisations, Commissioner of Railway Safety, said Vijayawada Division PRO Nusrat M. Mandrupkar in a press release.

He also visited the United Kingdom (U.K.) and Scotland to study the best global practices in rail safety and operations.
