Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on its 50th Raising Day. The ICG shared PM’s letter on X. President Droupadi Murmu, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also wished ICG.
An excerpt from PM Modi’s letter reads, “As the nation works towards the creation of a Viksit Bharat, the role of the Bharatiya Tatrakshak is set to become even more pivotal. In an era of the growing importance of the ‘Blue Economy’ and greater emphasis on trade, the Coast Guard is the primary guarantor of stability. From managing the complexities of increased maritime traffic to countering threats like climate-induced disasters, the Coast Guard is at the forefront of India’s emergence as a leading maritime player.
On this milestone occasion, I extend my heartiest greetings to all Tatrakshaks."
“May your spirit and commitment continue to power the nation towards a secure and prosperous future."
The ICG was established on February 1, 1977 with just seven surface platforms and over the period of time, it now comprises 155 ships and 80 aircraft. In an official statement, ICG said, “From its humble beginnings in 1977 with just seven surface platforms, the ICG has evolved into a formidable maritime force comprising 155 ships and 80 aircraft today."
Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended his wishes to ICG. His post on X reads, “Greetings to the brave personnel of the Indian Coast Guard on their Foundation Day. Your quiet vigilance at sea, steadfast courage, and unyielding commitment to duty keep Bharat’s maritime frontiers safe every day. My salutations to the martyrs who laid down their lives in service of the nation."
To mark the 50th Raising Day, ICG is organising an event in New Delhi today.
