Monsoon expected to weaken again in Kerala

Kochi: With IMD issuing a yellow alert in six districts only till Wednesday, the southwest monsoon is expected to weaken again in Kerala.Districts from Malappuram to Kasargod will be on yellow alert on Tuesday.

Kannur, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Alappuzha will be on yellow alert on Wednesday.

No alert has been issued for any district from Thursday onwards.On Monday, the maximum rainfall recorded was 3cm till 5.30pm at Chemberi in Kannur and Urumi in Kozhikode.Meanwhile, strong surface winds with speed occasionally reaching 40-50kmph is likely to prevail over Kerala and Lakshadweep till Wednesday. It also warned squally weather with wind speed 40-50kmph, gusting to 60kmph, is likely to prevail along and off Kerala coast during this period.The state so far received only 55.6cm from June 1 to July 6 morning, with deficiency touching 28%.
