KARUR: More than 15 students suffered injuries after a goods train rammed a private college bus near Velliyanai in Karur district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday evening.Sources said the accident happened when the bus carrying around 50 students was trying to cross an unmanned level crossing.
They said the accident happened on a private railway line -- owned and operated by Chettinad Cements -- between Veerarakkiyam and Palayam for clinker movement.
Locals rescued the injured students and sent them to nearby hospitals. Fire service officials are on the spot to clear the debris. Karur superintendent of police Josh Thangiah visited the spot.Karur MP Jothimani visited the injured students.
