In a bizarre statement, a top official in the Bihar Police said that crime incidents tend to rise in the months of April to June “because farmers don’t have work" during that period.
“Recently, a lot of murders have happened in the whole of Bihar. Most murders happen in the months of April, May, and June. This continues until the rains come, as most farmers do not have work. After the rains, people in the farming community get busy and the incidents reduce," Bihar Police ADG Headquarters, Kundan Krishnan, said while addressing the media on Wednesday.

He said that the media keeps focusing on the murders, and political leaders also give attention to such incidents due to the upcoming Assembly Elections.
“Murders happen across Bihar… incidents do occur… but the media keeps focusing on one murder after another. Since elections are approaching, political parties are also giving it more attention. We are concerned. Young people are increasingly committing such acts for money," he said.
“… So we have formed a new cell this month. The work of that cell will be to create a database of all the former shooters, contract killers, and keep an eye on them," he added.
