Mother kicks 4-year-old in chest for refusing to go to anganwadi centre in Panvel

NAVI MUMBAI: A disturbing video showing a woman kicking her toddler daughter in the chest outside an Anganwadi centre in Nandgaon village in Panvel has gone viral, triggering outrage on social media and concern among parents.Taking serious note of the incident, Panvel City Police detained the woman for questioning after establishing that she was the child's mother. The kick caused the toddler to fall onto the steps at the entrance of the Anganwadi. Fortunately, the child did not sustain any injuries.During questioning, the woman expressed remorse and told police she acted in a fit of rage because her daughter was refusing to attend the Anganwadi.Police have forwarded a report on the incident, which occurred on Thursday, to the state Child Welfare Committee (CWC), seeking directions on appropriate legal action against the woman.
