Times News NetworkBhopal: Traffic movement in several parts of the old city and VIP Road area will be affected on Friday due to Muharram processions. Bhopal Traffic Police has issued a detailed diversion plan and advised commuters to use alternate routes to avoid congestion.According to traffic police, tazias from different parts of the city will assemble between Imami Gate and Peer Gate from 11 am onwards. The main procession will pass through Bhawani Chowk, Royal Market, Hamidia Hospital, Kohefiza Tiraha and GAD before reaching Karbala. Some tazias will also move via VIP Road towards Ginnori.Traffic diversions will be enforced from around 12 noon till the conclusion of the procession.Avoid VIP Road during procession hours:Traffic police said the movement of tazias on VIP Road will begin around noon and commuters are advised to avoid the stretch during the procession period.Alternate routes for motorists:Vehicles travelling from the new city towards the old city can use Roshanpura Square, Control Room, Lily Talkies, Kali Mandir Talaiya, Bharat Talkies and Hamidia Road before proceeding towards Shahjehanabad and Idgah.
Further route will be available via Cancer Hospital, VIP Guest House and Lalghati.Motorists heading towards Berasia, Rajgarh and Biaora can travel via Bharat Mata Square, Bhadbhada, Sakshi Dhaba Trisection, Neelbad, Nathu Barkheda Road, Mugalia Chhap, Khajuri Road and Mubarakpur.Those travelling towards Sehore and Indore can use Bharat Mata Square, Bhadbhada, Sakshi Dhaba, Neelbad, Ratibad and Jhagaria routes.Commuters from Bhopal heading towards Sehore, Indore, Rajgarh and Biaora can also use Prabhat Square, JK Road, Ratnagiri, Ayodhya Bypass, Bhanpur, Karond Square, New Jail and Gandhi Nagar Trisection.Bus services to be curtailed:Passenger buses arriving from or heading towards Indore and Ujjain will not be allowed beyond Halalpur Bus Stand towards Lalghati. Similarly, buses operating on Rajgarh-Biaora routes will terminate at Halalpur Bus Stand during the restrictions.Airport-bound travellers advised using alternate routes:Traffic police have suggested two alternate routes for passengers travelling to Raja Bhoj Airport.One route will pass through Bharat Mata Square, Bhadbhada, Sakshi Dhaba Trisection, Neelbad, Nathu Barkheda Road, Mugalia Chhap, Khajuri Road and Mubarakpur.The second route will be via Prabhat Square, JK Road, Ratnagiri, Ayodhya Bypass, Bhanpur, Karond Square, New Jail and Gandhi Nagar Trisection.Route to Bhopal Main railway station:Commuters travelling from the new city towards Bhopal Main railway station can use Prabhat Square, Parihar Square, 80-Feet Road and Bajaria Trisection.Heavy vehicles barred from old city:All heavy vehicles, commercial vehicles, goods carriers and even permit vehicles will be prohibited from entering the old city routes including Bharat Talkies, Alpana Trisection, Nadra Bus Stand, Bhopal Talkies, Shahjehanabad, Royal Market, Koh-e-Fiza and Karbala during the procession period.Traffic police have appealed to citizens to cooperate and follow diversion advisories to ensure smooth movement during Muharram processions.
