MUMBAI: A labourer who was trapped under a mound of soil at a construction site in Andheri on Monday evening was identified as Sonelal Prasad, 28. Locals said that he was trapped after a portion of the excavation gave way due to heavy rain.The incident occurred around 7:43 pm at Kadamwadi, behind Saileela Business Park in Andheri East. After being pulled out he was taken to civic run Cooper Hospital where he was declared as brought dead.According to information received from the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), the worker was engaged in foundation work for an under-construction building when the sidewall of the pit caved in, burying him under loose, rain-soaked soil.Rescue operations were led by teams from the MFB and BMC ward staff and authorities had to use specialised equipment to clear the debris and locate the trapped worker.
