Mumbai Rains Live Updates: After two days of relentless downpour that threw public life out of gear, the monsoon showers eased across the city on Tuesday, bringing respite to commuters and residents as road traffic and other transport services gradually returned to normal.
On Tuesday, Mumbai received an average rainfall of 22.39 mm between 8 am and 8 pm. While the eastern suburbs received 23.04 mm of rainfall, the western suburbs saw 25.93 mm during the said period.
Meanwhile, light rains were reported across the city on Wednesday. Visuals shared by the news agency IANS showed traffic on the Western Express Highway moving gradually despite the showers.
An early morning visual, shared by the news agency PTI, captured dense clouds enveloping the skies over the Bandra West area as strong winds brushed against trees.
Rain Fury In Maharashtra
As torrential rains continue to wreak havoc in Maharashtra throughout the past week, widespread waterlogging, flooding, and traffic congestion were reported across the state. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in the Sahyadri region, with Lonavla receiving 620 mm of rain in 24 hours.
The death toll in rain-related incidents rose to 15 after one person died in a landslide in Satara while another was killed in a lightning strike in the Nandurbar district. Heavy showers also caused the uprooting of trees, wall and house collapses, and power outages across the state.
Meanwhile, at least 10 people have been reported dead in the Palghar district since July 1. Three casualties were reported in the past 24 hours.
