Mumbai Rains, Maharashtra Monsoon 2026 Live Updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across parts of west India on Thursday, July 2, and said the monsoon is likely to remain active over the coming days. It has issued an Orange warning for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad, forecasting moderate to intense spells of rain at isolated places over the next three hours.

The forecast comes a day after relentless rain flooded roads, disrupted transport and, as many netizens put it, once again tested the resilience of Mumbaikars.

According to the IMD, a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the northwest Bay of Bengal around July 3. The weather office has also forecast continued heavy to very heavy rainfall for Mumbai and the Konkan region over the next several days, with isolated places likely to receive extremely heavy rain. Over the past 24 hours, Konkan witnessed widespread heavy rainfall, with Wada in Palghar recording 23 cm of rain.
