Heavy rains affected the normal life in different parts of Maharashtra on Wednesday (August 20, 2025), cutting off villages, inundating houses, and triggering landslides, officials said.

In two separate incidents of electrocution in Maharashtra, five members of a family died after coming in contact with a live wire around a farmland in Jalgaon district, while a 17-year-old youth lost his life in Mumbai’s Bhandup area after stepping on a fallen electricity cable amid heavy rains, police said on Wednesday (August 20, 2025).
All public transport services in Mumbai, including local trains, resumed normal operations on Wednesday morning, a day after the torrential rains crippled normal life, officials said.
Educational institutions like schools and colleges were also opened a day after they were closed due to heavy rains and floods.
