A video from Mumbai has left many people angry and, honestly, quite worried.The clip is from Malad, where a fruit seller is allegedly seen applying rat poison on fruits kept at his stall.
Yes, rat poison. That’s what people say they saw in the now-viral video.In the footage, the man is holding a tube of Ratol while handling bananas. At one point, he says, “Kharaab kele hain.” The people around him quickly react. One man questions him, saying, “Bachche log khaate hain yeh… yeh kyun kar rahe ho?” You can clearly sense the frustration. Someone else even points at a pomegranate, claiming the same substance was put on that, too.The video spread rapidly on social media, and many users said they were disturbed after watching it. For most families, buying fruits from local markets is a daily routine. Incidents like this naturally make people uneasy.According to a report by India Today, after the video surfaced, a local resident, Kunal Salunke, approached the Malad Police Station and filed a complaint. He alleged that two fruit sellers were using rat poison on fruits meant for customers.
According to the report, police registered a case and detained both men for questioning. Since it involves food being sold to the public, officials treated the matter seriously.During questioning, the accused reportedly told police that the substance was intended to keep rats away from the fruit, as reported by India Today. However, officers have said that applying such a harmful chemical to food items is extremely dangerous, regardless of the reason.
If consumed, it could cause serious health problems.The two men have been identified as Manoj Kumar Kesarwani and Bipin Kesarwani. A case has been filed under Sections 125, 274, 275 and 286 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, as mentioned in the report. The investigation is ongoing.The incident has once again sparked concerns about food safety in local markets.
