Mapusa: Ahead of the monsoon, a joint re-inspection drive led by Bardez deputy collector Varsha Parab has identified 49 structurally unsafe and dangerous buildings within Mapusa municipal limits.The special inspection, initiated on the orders of the North Goa district collector, aimed to assess structural stability and prevent potential collapses or mishaps during heavy rains.The identified structures comprise of 42 private buildings and seven govt buildings. Officials from the Mapusa Municipal Council’s building department and the public works department (PWD) conducted structural inspections of the properties to review their current state of stability. Following the inspection, authorities have initiated strict safety protocols. The Mapusa Municipal Council is in the process of issuing fresh vacation notices to the owners and occupants of the 42 compromised private buildings.For structures that remain occupied or in active use, occupants are being ordered to vacate the premises immediately, while owners of other vacant but weak buildings have been directed to implement urgent safety measures or carry out necessary structural repairs.
