A 28-year-old man was murdered at an eatery located right next to a police station in Tamil Nadu’s Salem on Tuesday.

The victim identified as Madhan alias Appulu was a native of Thoothukudi, was out on conditional bail in connection with a murder case.

As part of his bail terms, he had reported to the Hasthampatti Police Station around 10 am along with his wife to sign the attendance register.

Madhan went to a nearby hotel to eat after completing the formalities.

While he was at the eatery, three unidentified men suddenly surrounded him and hacked him to death with sharp weapons before escaping the scene.

Police from Asthampatti Station rushed to the spot, recovered Madhan’s body and sent it to the Salem Government District Hospital for autopsy.

Preliminary investigations suggest the murder could be an act of revenge.

Police suspect the involvement of a six-member gang and have launched a full investigation to identify and apprehend the attackers.
