Murder case registered after NCBC steps in over Kushwaha youth’s death

The victim’s family, accompanied by national president of the Shoshit Kranti Dal, Ravikant met the chairperson of the National Commission for Backward Classes to seek intervention and demand justice.

Meerut: More than a month after the alleged murder of a Kushwaha community youth in Bijnor’s Jani area, police have finally registered an FIR for murder following the intervention of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).According to police, 28-year-old Amar Singh Kushwaha, a resident of Galtiyana village, was allegedly abducted and murdered by two friends and two of their associates on May 28. His family had been demanding action, alleging that despite repeated representations, police failed to register an FIR under appropriate sections. The matter gained momentum after the Shoshit Kranti Dal, an NGO working for the rights of the backward classes, took up the case and approached the NCBC.

Acting on the complaint, the Commission sought a report from the district administration and directed the SP to personally look into the matter. On Friday, the victim’s family, accompanied by national president of the Shoshit Kranti Dal, Ravikant, along with other activists, staged a five-hour sit-in protest at Commissioner Park in Meerut, but even then no FIR was registered. Consequently, the victim’s family, along with a delegation from the NGO, met the chairperson of the NCBC to seek intervention and demand justice.

Members of the organisation alleged that although the victim’s family had met senior police officers, including the SSP, several times over the past month, no murder case had been registered. Following the NCBC’s intervention, police lodged an FIR and initiated an investigation.
