Members of a Tumakuru-based muslim association, Markazi Mazlese Mushwarat, have petitioned the district police demanding action against an alleged Pakistan-based organisation operating in the district, which they claim poses a threat to the law and order and national security.
The petition claims a member of the Pakistan-based Mehdi Foundation International (MFI) has been operating in Tumakuru, to promote the agenda of the organisation, misleading many people. The petition gives the person’s name and other details. MFI led by Riyaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi operates under several banners like Messiah Foundation International, Kalki Avatar Foundation, Mehdi Foundation International, Interfaith Institute of Divine Love and Anjuman Sarfarosha-e-Islam, the petition said.
Jigani Police, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, arrested Pakistani nationals Rashid Ali Siddiqui, 48, his wife Ayesha Hanif, 38, and her parents Mohammed Hanif, 73, and Rubina, 61, accused of illegally residing in Rajapura, near Jigani, under false Hindu identities in September, 2024. The FIR in the case said that police recovered materials of Mehdi Foundation International Jashan-e-Younus at their house.
Flagging the Jigani case, the petition said: “Going by the past experience of Deendar Anjuman, another Pakistan-based organisation that was active in the State and was later involved in several bomb blasts against churches in 2000, this organisation is a threat of law and order and national security,” demanding a thorough probe into the activities of the oraganisation members in the district. They have also demanded that the police put an immediate stop to the organisation’s meetings, pamphlets being distributed openly.
