Agra: A 27-year-old man was allegedly strangled to death by his close friend in Muzaffarnagar after celebrating his two-year-old son’s birthday, with police saying the accused killed him over a relationship with his wife.
The accused, Rahul Singh, 28, was arrested after an encounter on Monday for allegedly killing Rohit Singh.Rohit, a resident of Shahjuddi village under Shahpur police station, went missing on Saturday night after the birthday celebration. His body was found the following day in the forest area near the village. Police said Rahul was apprehended soon after and confessed during interrogation.Muzaffarnagar SSP Sanjay Verma said, “Rahul was in a relationship with Rohit’s wife and frequently visited their house.
After the child’s birthday celebrations, Rahul and Rohit consumed alcohol together. Rahul then strangled Rohit and dumped the body in a nearby forest.When police attempted to arrest Rahul, he allegedly opened fire using an illegal firearm. He sustained a bullet injury in the leg before being arrested. Officials said, “They recovered illegal firearms and cartridges. A case has been registered under BNS sections 103 (murder) and 109 (attempt to murder) and provisions of the Arms Act provisions accordingly.”
