While the NBA legend, Dwyane Wade already had a few children of his own with his ex wife and a long term friend, he really struggled to have children with Gabrielle Union.

Gabrielle Union recently spoke to Marie Claire about becoming a mother and the challenges that she faced. Gabrielle Union went through a few miscarriages as she tried to start a family with Dwyane Wade and this had affected the couple.

They later opted for surrogacy but that too came with its own challenges. Gabrielle Union spoke about her surrogacy journey and said, “Every single person’s surrogacy journey is different.”The popular Hollywood actress also added that other’s opinion had affected her and she went through a pretty difficult phase in her life.Gabrielle Union added, “It’s like any time there’s any kind of variance in the experience, it’s, ‘See, I told you. You shouldn’t explore this option to expand your family.’

But for me, it felt like failure. My body failed. It just felt like such a f---ing public humiliation.”

However, both Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade stayed by each other’s side as they went through one of the most difficult periods of their lives. Later, in 2018, they were able to welcome their only daughter, Kaavia Wade, into the world through surrogacy.Today, Kaavia Wade is seven years old and leads a pretty healthy and happy life with her high profile parents.The family of three is often seen on a vacation along with Dwyane Wade’s other children that he had with his ex wife, Siohvaughn Funches, and a son that he had with his long term friend, Aja Metoyer.
