The NBA franchise responded to Smith’s critical jibe with a 4-word message on X, which mentioned, “Stick to solitaire, Stephen.”However, things took a different turn when Stephen A. Smith took a dig at the New Orleans Pelicans’ dismal history while responding to the NBA teams’ shot at him. During the recent episode of his show First Take, Smith did not mince his words while talking about the Pelicans history. The ESPN personality said,

65 games have been played, and you’re still searching for your 20th victory. Y'all are horrible! Y'all have been trash! That is the reality.”He further mentioned, "You used to be the Hornets, now you’re the Pelicans, that’s 2 nicknames. That’s how many playoff victories you have… You got the time to clap back at me, at least tell America why. It’s the only thing that can make you relevant."Through his scathing response to the New Orleans Pelicans, Stephen A. Smith reminded them that they have qualified for the Conference Finals. Recently, even LeBron James responded to Smith’s take on Zion Williamson and advised the Pelicans’ star not to get worked up by the noise around him.
