Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal murder probe: His father claimed Ketan had questioned his family about whether Siya's background was thoroughly checked before fixing the marriage.

As investigation into the murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal continues, his father has now claimed that he had expressed concerns over Siya Goyal’s behaviour and even suspected her of having an affair with co-accused Chetan Chaudhary.

According to the first information report registered on the basis of Vishal Agarwal, Ketan had repeatedly questioned his family about whether Siya’s background was thoroughly checked before fixing the marriage.

“Siya has been troubling me for the last one month over different small issues. Since she is younger, I thought she was behaving this way and did not pay much attention to it," Ketan reportedly told his father as per the FIR.

Ketan was allegedly pushed to his death from Lohagad Fort on June 18 by Siya and Chetan. Initially, Siya claimed that Ketan had accidentally slipped while taking photographs. However, police later said it was a well-planned conspiracy and arrested both Siya and Chetan.

Investigators later revealed that a similar attempt to kill Ketan had allegedly been made on June 14, but it failed. According to Ketan’s father, Siya allegedly pushed Ketan near the edge of a cliff, but he managed to save himself by grabbing a nearby tree and avoiding a fatal fall. Ketan, however, did not suspect any foul play after Siya allegedly told him that she had pushed him to save him from a snake.

PTI quoted a police official saying, “After returning from the Lohgad Fort on June 14, Ketan had once again asked his father whether they had conducted a thorough inquiry about Siya before fixing the marriage. Ketan told his father that her phone was often busy whenever he called her and that she frequently mentioned Chaudhary during their conversations."

He further said that when Ketan had expressed suspicion that Siya was having an affair with someone, his family had reassured him that there was probably nothing to worry about as her family is related to them.

PTI quoted the police saying that the matchmaking of Ketan and Siya had been done through a common relative of the Agarwals and Goyals, and the engagement had taken place in February this year at a plush hotel in Pune.
