Kambala is not merely a sport of Tulunadu but an integral part of Karnataka’s cultural heritage, said city Congress spokesperson
Mysuru: The Mysuru City Congress on Monday accused the BJP of politicising the kambala issue and attempting to divide the state along regional lines.Addressing reporters, city Congress spokesperson S Rajesh criticised Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar and Union minister HD Kumaraswamy for opposing the state govt’s decision to organise Kambala during the
Mysuru Dasara
festival.“Kambala is not merely a sport of Tulunadu but an integral part of Karnataka’s cultural heritage. It should be celebrated across the state rather than being confined to a particular region,” he said.Meanwhile, the JD(S) Mysuru unit urged the Mysuru City Corporation and the state govt to give the city a facelift ahead of the Dasara festival in Oct.Speaking to reporters, city unit president SBM Manju said that despite the govt’s announcement of Dasara celebration, several roads across Mysuru remained in poor condition. He urged the civic body to complete road repair works before the festival season, when thousands of tourists are expected to visit the city. The JD(S) functionaries also cautioned against hurried white-topping and patchwork, stating that such measures could further compromise the quality and durability of roads.
