Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikant Reddy has fixed September 28 and 29 for the trial of the much-awaited drone show, one of the chief attractions of the world-famous Dasara festivities in Mysuru.

Mr. Reddy instructed the officials of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) to take all necessary measures to ensure the successful execution of both the Dasara illumination and the drone show as part of the festivities.

The Dasara illumination has become a major highlight of the festival, with people from various parts of the State visiting Mysuru to catch a glimpse of the city decked up in bright lights.

Speaking at the preliminary progress review meeting on Dasara illumination held at CESC’s headquarters in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage on Friday, the Deputy Commissioner said that an air show will also be held at the Torchlight Parade Grounds in Bannimantap this year. Along with that, the drone show will also be conducted, he added.

“Since rehearsals of the Torchlight Parade are also scheduled at the venue, we must ensure that all three events are conducted without any hindrance. Therefore, September 28 and 29 are the most suitable dates for the trial of the drone show,” Mr. Reddy said.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that arrangements for sound and lighting required for the drone show and other cultural events will be managed by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). MUDA should also take the responsibility of organising musical evenings and cultural programs, he added.

Earlier in the meeting, CESC Managing Director K.M. Munigopal Raju gave details of the plan for the Dasara illumination, explaining the designs, artworks, and decorations to be put up at prominent junctions, roads, and other places in the city.

“The trial drone show will be held on September 28 and 29, while the main drone show will be conducted on October 1 and 2. Apart from that, a musical evening featuring renowned singers is also being planned,” he said.

MUDA Commissioner Rakshith, CESC Technical Director D.J. Divakar, Superintendent Engineer of Mysuru Circle Sunil, General Manager L. Lokesh, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
