Senior BJP leader N. Hari has been appointed Chairman of the Rubber Board by the Union Government. The Department of Commerce under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Monday issued an order appointing Mr. Hari as Chairman of the Rubber Board, headquartered in Kottayam, for a term of three years.
Mr. Hari currently serves as president of the BJP’s central zone committee in Kerala. A native of Pallikkathode in Kottayam district, he also served as member of the Rubber Board for two years. The appointment also brings an end to a prolonged vacancy in the post, with the Board getting a full-time chairman after a gap following the demitting of office by Sawar Dhananiya.
Reacting to the appointment, Mr. Hari said he would give due consideration to issues concerning rubber farmers and the sector as a whole. He added that his foremost priority would be to support farmers and address their concerns. According to Mr. Hari, the Centre’s decision to appoint a representative from Kerala as Chairman of the Rubber Board reflects the State’s importance in the country’s rubber sector.
