BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran on Wednesday cited a report published in The Hindu that pointed out that even a month after classes began, many government schools across the State were yet to receive their textbooks. He criticised Minister for School Education Rajmohan for the delay.
Referring to the report, Mr. Nagenthran said it had come as a shock to parents. The Minister assumed office just about the time when schools reopened after the summer vacation. He should have ensured that textbooks were available for the students, the BJP leader said.
Mr. Nagenthran further criticised Mr. Rajmohan for supporting his Cabinet colleague S. Keerthana over her recent comments. “The [School] Education Department is given to you. The future of children is dependent on your actions.” He further requested the Minister to ensure the quality of education and safety of children in government schools.
