Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu sought NUS support in establishing a world-class Centre of Excellence in the Amaravati Quantum Valley
Vijayawada: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu urged National University of Singapore (NUS) President Tan Eng Chye to set up an international branch or satellite campus of the prestigious university in Amaravati.
Naidu held discussions with Tan Eng Chye on Monday and sought his support in making Amaravati an international destination for educational institutions.The senior officials and representatives from the NUS innovation and urban studies departments participated in the meeting. Naidu said the state govt was working towards developing Amaravati as a global education and innovation hub and was aiming to bring world-class educational institutions to the capital region.The chief minister informed the NUS delegation that several reputed institutions have already started operations in the Amaravati region. He sought NUS support in establishing a world-class Centre of Excellence in the Amaravati Quantum Valley through technical assistance and research collaboration.Chandrababu Naidu said a campus of NUS, recognised as one of the leading universities globally, would add value to Amaravati’s growth as an international knowledge centre.
He also sought the support of the NUS Policy Institute in designing innovative policies to attract global investors.During the meeting, NUS professors enquired about the progress of Amaravati construction works and recalled their earlier association with the preparation of the city’s master plan. Tan Eng Chye said NUS would examine the proposal of setting up a campus in Amaravati and discuss the possibilities further. Municipal administration minister Narayana and secretary Karthikeya Mishra were also present.
