Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday (July 22, 2025) accused the DMK government of ignoring the concerns of farmers cultivating tapioca in the State and failing to take steps to provide Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the crop as promised by the ruling party in its manifesto in the run-up to the 2021 Assembly polls.

In a statement, Mr. Nagenthran said tapioca farmers in Tamil Nadu have been repeatedly demanding that the State government extend MSP for the crop. However, the DMK government has been neglecting the concerns of the farmers. “The tapioca farmers have been suffering due to the fall in prices. The State government has not taken any steps to provide adequate irrigation facilities for the farmers. It has also failed to ensure that the farmers get fair price for their produce,” he said.

Mr. Nagenthran urged the immediate intervention of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and sought steps to ensure that the farmers get reasonable a price for their tapioca produce.
