Director Nandini Reddy has spoken about her long friendship with Samantha Ruth Prabhu and the journey they have shared over the years. The filmmaker has worked with Samantha on three films, including ‘Jabardasth’, ‘Oh! Baby’ and the recently released ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’.
Nandini Reddy opens up about Samantha Ruth Prabhu
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, looking back at their friendship, Nandini Reddy said she has seen the ‘Eega’ actress grow both personally and professionally. She said the actress has changed in many ways but has never lost her determination.Speaking about Samantha, Nandini said, “She’s really grown, trained, and evolved as a person. I mean, in many, many, many ways, I would say, emotionally, spiritually, strength-wise.
I think she has really evolved into a completely different person.”She further added, “One thing that stays true to her from then to now is her incredible determination to achieve what she sets her eyes on.”Nandini also said Samantha Ruth Prabhu always pushes herself to do better and never settles for less.She said, “She’s hard not only on everybody else, but she’s the hardest on herself. That hasn’t changed. But there’s an incredible amount of maturity and growth…especially spiritual growth.
Today, she’s calmer, wiser, and more sorted as a person. And, of course, acting-wise, she has evolved phenomenally; that’s there to see. She makes it tangible that you feel what she’s feeling.”
Friendship in ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’
Nandini also spoke about the strong friendship shown in ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’ between Samantha's character Swarna and Manjusha Mukkavilli's Kiranmayi. She said female friendships are rarely celebrated in films, and she wanted that relationship to become one of the strongest parts of the story.
“Earlier, you had two heroes to depict these friendships, but we mostly have sidekick characters now. And female friendships have not really had that space to be celebrated,” he said.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu to take a short break
Samantha is currently enjoying the success of the film. She is also preparing to welcome her first child with her husband, Raj Nidimoru, and has already announced that she will take a short maternity break after completing her current work commitments.
