Dehradun: Five members of a family and their driver had a narrow escape on Thursday after rocks and debris triggered by heavy rain fell onto their vehicle on the Satpuli-Pauri road, trapping them inside.
No injuries were reported, officials said.After receiving information from Satpuli police station, an SDRF team led by sub-inspector Sawar Singh rushed to the spot with rescue equipment. Working alongside the local police, the team rescued all six occupants from the damaged vehicle despite continuing rainfall and the risk of further landslides, officials said.The family was travelling from Thalisain to Delhi. The occupants were identified as Sampatti Devi (68), Dilbar Singh (46), Karishma Negi (36), Ojas Negi (8), Prashant Negi (13) and their driver.SDRF commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi urged people to exercise caution during the monsoon season. “People should avoid unnecessary travel in landslide-prone areas and follow weather advisories issued by the administration and the meteorological department,” he said.
