Nashik Municipal Corporation revenue increased by 31.4% during administrative rule.
NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation's (NMC) revenue rose by 31.4% during the four years of administrative rule, increasing from Rs 1,731.87 crore in 2021-22 to Rs 2,276.94 crore in 2025-26, according to a white paper presented by civic chief Manisha Khatri.The report stated that GST compensation, the 1% local body cess, property tax, revenue from the town planning department, water charges and penalties for various violations were among the major sources of civic revenue during the period.Property and advertisement tax collection witnessed a significant rise, nearly doubling from Rs 130.63 crore in 2021-22 to Rs 252.77 crore in 2025-26. GST grants continue to be one of the NMC's largest revenue sources.
According to the white paper, GST-related revenue has grown by around 8% annually over the past few years.The report revealed that NMC generated total revenue of Rs 11,583 crore and incurred expenditure of Rs 11,442 crore, including both revenue and capital expenditure, during the five financial years from 2021-22 to 2025-26.Administrative rule came into force in March 2022 after the tenure of the elected general body ended and continued until January 2026.
The NMC is also taking measures to further boost its revenue through property tax collection. The civic body has set an ambitious property tax collection target of Rs 350 crore for 2026-27 and is banking on structural reforms to sustain revenue growth.Officials said efforts are underway to identify unassessed properties and bring them into the tax net. Nashik currently has around 6.22 lakh registered properties across its six divisions, with Panchavati and Cidco accounting for nearly 48% of the total property base.Cidco, in particular, has witnessed rapid growth, with the number of properties increasing by 54% from 97,517 in 2017-18 to nearly 1.49 lakh in 2025-26. Civic officials said such growth centres are expected to play a key role in driving future property tax revenue as the administration focuses on improving compliance through a combination of incentives and enforcement measures.
