Nashik Rural police seize 32 kg ganja, arrest three

Nashik: The local crime branch of Nashik Rural police seized 32 kg of ganja and arrested three men during a raid at Dighwad Shivar on the Chandwad-Lasalgaon road. The police also seized a car, mobile phones and cash, with the total value of the haul estimated at over Rs 14.7 lakh.The action was taken following a tip-off that a white sedan was transporting ganja from Chandwad towards Lasalgaon for sale. Acting on the information, the LCB team laid a trap and intercepted the vehicle.During a search of the car in the presence of panch witnesses, police found 32 kg of ganja concealed in the vehicle’s boot. Officials said the contraband was being transported illegally for distribution and sale.The arrested accused were identified as Sandip Sanap (36), Anil Bodke (30) and Yash More (24), all residents of Sinnar taluka.LCB officials said Nashik Rural superintendent of police D S Swami had directed all police stations and crime branches to intensify action against illegal businesses and drug trafficking. As part of the drive, the LCB team was conducting patrols and intelligence-gathering operations in the Chandwad area when the information was received.A case has been registered with Chandwad police under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
