The incident allegedly stemmed from a dispute between the boys about seven months ago. Pawar said the 16-year-old was alone in the car at the time of the incident, and he has confirmed the same to the police as well.
The police detained the underage driver and, on Jan 26, produced him before a juvenile court, which sent him to a remand home. The police said that after being hit by the BMW, the two-wheeler dashed against a car parked by the roadside, and the two 14-year-olds suffered injuries. The complainant suffered a fractured nose and other injuries on his face, hands and legs, while his friend suffered injuries on both legs. The complainant, whose mother runs a boutique, frequently visits College Road for tuition classes.
He said that about seven months ago, when he and his other friend from Kamgaar Nagar, Satpur, were having coffee in the College Road area, the accused, sitting across their table, kept staring at them. This led to an argument between them. The complainant said that, although other people intervened and stopped the quarrel, the 16-year-old accused threatened him, saying that he would not spare him.On Saturday, at 5.30pm, when the complainant and his friend were riding his moped from near Prasad Mangal Karyalay along Gangapur Road while returning from their class on College Road, he saw the accused 16-year-old in an orange BMW through the open front window of the car. The complainant said that though he ignored the accused, he saw the 16-year-old coming behind them and honking continuously. While he pulled towards the left slowly in a bid to let the accused drive past, the latter allegedly hit his two-wheeler from behind and fled the spot, the complainant said in the FIR.
The complainant said he then called his mother on the phone and narrated the incident, after which his maternal uncle rushed to the spot and took the two boys to a private hospital.
