A national-level convention of Adivasis will be held in the temple town of Bhadrachalam in the tribal dominated Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Monday (July 6).
The convention, to be organised by the All-India Adivasi Coordination Committee, will deliberate on issues affecting Adivasi communities and chart the future course of action to safeguard the constitutional rights of aboriginal people.
The convention will bring together Adivasi leaders from various parts of the country to discuss the challenges confronting Adivasi communities, according to the organisers.
The convention is expected to adopt a series of resolutions seeking the effective implementation of the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) (PESA) Act, the Forest Rights Act, and other legislations governing the Fifth Schedule Areas to safeguard the rights and interest of Adivasis.
National Chairman of the All-India Adivasi Constitutional Rights and Cultural Protection Coordination Committee and former MLA Chanda Lingaiah Dora, along with other leaders, will address the convention.
