Three-time All-Star guard Bradley Beal has reached a buyout agreement with the Phoenix Suns, ending his two-year stint with the team and clearing the way for a move to the Los Angeles Clippers, according to ESPN.
Beal Set for New Start in Los Angeles
Following the buyout, Beal is expected to sign a two-year, $11 million contract with the Clippers, which will include a player option after the first season. The 32-year-old guard will forfeit $13.9 million of the $110 million remaining on his contract with Phoenix, granting the Suns added financial flexibility as they look to reshape their roster.
The agreement marks the end of a brief and underwhelming tenure in Phoenix, where Beal struggled with injuries and inconsistency across two disappointing seasons.
Phoenix Begins Roster Overhaul
Beal’s exit is part of a larger summer shake-up for the Suns. The team also made headlines by trading 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster deal. In return, Phoenix acquired Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, which they used to select Duke center Khaman Maluach.
Phoenix, once considered a superteam contender, is now shifting into rebuild mode following a disastrous 36-46 campaign that saw them finish 11th in the Western Conference and miss the playoffs entirely.
Beal arrived in Phoenix with high expectations, forming a big three alongside Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. But the trio never fully clicked on the court, and Beal’s lingering injuries played a significant role in the team’s underperformance. He averaged 17.6 points per game with the Suns—well below his peak scoring years.
Once among the league’s top offensive threats, Beal averaged a career-best 31.3 points per game with the Washington Wizards during the 2020–21 season.
However, recurring injuries have since derailed his form. Beal has missed at least 29 regular-season games in each of the last four years.
Clippers Add More Veteran Firepower
With the move to Los Angeles, Beal joins a veteran-heavy Clippers squad that already features James Harden and Kawhi Leonard. The Clippers hope that a healthy Beal can provide additional scoring and playoff experience as they continue their pursuit of a championship.
