Former Phoenix Suns player and NBA veteran Charles Barkley candidly spoke on Friday. He reflected on the fact that the current state of the NBA world could have been much better. However, his statement has sparked some heated debate among the basketball community.

They know exactly what he was talking about. For a player to become great, they need assistance from a great coach, but the modern NBA doesn’t seem to have it, according to Charles Barkley. Modern NBA coaches are scared to coach their teams. That says it all. Modern-day NBA coaches don't have the same courage as they did in the past. The fire and boldness seem to be missing from their routine.

Charles Barkley feels deeply about NBA and its current scenario

The 90s NBA had a very different scenario than what we see today. The coaches were furious and had a zeal for coaching their respective teams. “I think the biggest thing you need to be a great player is have a good coaching staff. That is probably the most important thing — the coaching staff,” explained Charles Barkley on the show. At least that was the scenario when he used to play basketball.

NBA Veteran Charles Barkley shared his perspective about having a great coach

“Like, I wanted a Pat Riley. I had a great coach, Billy Cunningham, a Gregg Popovich, but most of the coaches today, they are cowards because the players make so much money. They don’t have them under control. The players run the team. And the coach needs to realize that player is going to get him fired, but we have taken the power from the coaches away because the players make so much money. But I say bad coaches have ruined more players than anything in the NBA”, Charles Barkley said.

What he meant to say is that having a great coach is a blessing. Today’s NBA coaches have lost control over their players, and hence, they don’t make enough money.
