The National Democratic Alliance government has taken responsibility to dedicate the Polavaram irrigation project to the nation by commissioning it in the year 2027, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said.

Addressing a gathering after a rally on the ‘Swachh Andhra-Swarna Andhra’ campaign here in Kakinada district on Saturday (August 23), Mr. Naidu reiterated that YSR Congress party has failed to execute the construction of the Polavaram irrigation project, leading to damage to the project’s diaphragm wall.

“The Polavaram irrigation project has been brought back on track despite being ignored for five years by the previous government. The onus of dedicating the project to the nation in 2027 is now on the NDA in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

Referring to Godavari waters, Mr. Naidu pointed out that 2500 TMCft of Godavari water is being let into the sea in Andhra Pradesh every year.

Sinking party

Reacting to the YSRCP’s campaign that Amaravati is being inundated by storm water, Mr. Naidu said: “It is not Amaravati that is being inundated. The political party, which ran such a campaign, is now sinking in Andhra Pradesh.” Further, the State is capable of developing three cities — Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati, he added.

Referring to his recent Singapore visit aimed at investments, Mr. Naidu said: “Singapore-based investors are being threatened by our rivals in Andhra Pradesh. Nowadays, the image of Andhra Pradesh appears negative in Singapore to attract the investments.”
