After the father of the NEET 2026 paper leak accused, Suresh Dhaka, was awarded a Rs 20-crore river sand mining contract in Rajasthan, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the police is probing whether the lease was secured using money allegedly earned through the paper leak racket.

Officials said Dhaka Construction, a firm owned by Mangilal Dhaka, was granted a five-year lease in December 2025 for gravel mining in the Raipur area of Beawar district. The contract was awarded despite protests by residents of 10 villages against the proposed mining project. Mining activities started around two months ago.

The SOG suspects that funds allegedly earned through the paper leak racket may have been used to finance the contract. The agency conducted searches at the mining site and other locations linked to the Dhaka family on Thursday.

According to police, Suresh had earlier stayed in Mumbai, where he worked in his maternal uncle’s business. He later entered the trading business and was allegedly involved in hawala transactions, receiving money from abroad. Police said his name emerged during a money laundering investigation in Mumbai, following which he moved to Jaipur in 2016.

Suresh first came under investigation in the 2023 Rajasthan second-grade teacher recruitment paper leak case. The SOG said he had started planning the paper leak in June 2022. The probe found that teachers and MBBS doctors were allegedly paid Rs 10 lakh each to solve examination papers.

Further investigations linked Suresh to around 10 paper leak cases, including the Rajasthan Sub-Inspector and junior engineer examinations. His coaching institute in Jaipur was later demolished by authorities.

After he went absconding, the SOG announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to his arrest.

SOG Additional Director General Vishal Bansal said, “The agency obtained a look-out circular against Suresh Dhaka from the Ministry of Home Affairs on July 3, 2026. Efforts continue to trace him."
