NEET Re-Exam Today: Maharashtra tightens security for NEET-UG 2026 re-exam, with heavy police, CRPF and CCTV installed at various exam centres.

Authorities across Maharashtra have stepped up security arrangements for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, with special vigilance in Nagpur, Ahilyanagar and Latur amid heightened concerns following last year’s paper leak controversy.

The state administration, in coordination with police and education authorities, has put in place extensive measures to ensure the examination is conducted in a secure, transparent and malpractice-free environment. Maharashtra was among the states that came under scrutiny during the NEET paper leak investigation, prompting authorities to adopt stricter safeguards this year.

Nagpur: 12,512 Candidates Across 30 Centres

In Nagpur, a total of 12,512 students are scheduled to appear for the examination at 30 designated centres. Security has been significantly tightened, with authorities describing the arrangements as akin to a “police-camp atmosphere."

All examination centres are under CCTV surveillance, while candidates will undergo stringent identity verification and security screening before entry. Special monitoring teams have also been deployed to keep a close watch on any suspicious activity.

To facilitate smooth transportation for students, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has announced free travel on the city’s “Aapli Bus" service. Candidates can avail the facility by presenting their NEET admit cards. Special air-conditioned buses have also been arranged to ensure timely access to examination centres.

Ahilyanagar: CRPF Deployed for Secure Paper Transportation

In Ahilyanagar district, 5,385 candidates will appear for the examination at 12 centres. The test will be conducted from 2 pm to 5:15 pm.

Authorities have arranged enhanced security for the transportation of question papers, with local police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deployed to safeguard the process. Examination centres have been equipped with all necessary facilities, while power utility officials have been directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

Medical teams have also been stationed to handle emergencies. Resident Deputy Collector Dadasaheb Gite has been appointed as the nodal officer to oversee examination operations in the district.

Latur: Around 14,000 Students to Take Test

Latur district is expected to witness around 14,000 candidates appearing for the examination across 24 centres. The district administration has implemented comprehensive security and monitoring measures, including the deployment of heavy police personnel at all centres.

Duty magistrates and state observers have also been appointed to supervise the examination process. Officials noted that the number of examination centres has been reduced from 34 last year to 24 this year, a move aimed at strengthening oversight and improving security management.

The district collector has personally inspected several centres to review preparedness, infrastructure and security arrangements.

Enhanced Vigilance After NEET Controversy

The heightened security measures come in the wake of the nationwide controversy over alleged paper leaks and examination irregularities in previous NEET examinations. Authorities across Maharashtra have adopted an unprecedented level of vigilance to maintain the integrity of the test.

Officials have expressed confidence that the extensive preparations, coupled with strict monitoring and security protocols, will help ensure that the examination is conducted fairly, transparently and peacefully across the state.
