NTA says NEET-UG 2026 Nagpur candidate chose Abu Dhabi centre using own login, later shifted to Nagpur after family request, cites digital records and student-first approach.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday issued a clarification regarding the controversy over a NEET-UG 2026 candidate from Nagpur allegedly being allotted an examination centre in Abu Dhabi, stating that records show the overseas city was selected using the candidate’s own login credentials.

The clarification comes ahead of the NEET-UG examination scheduled for June 21, after concerns were raised over the candidate’s centre allotment.

Candidate Used Own Login, Says NTA

According to the NTA, web activity records indicate that the city change request was made through the candidate’s registered account during the examination-city correction window.

The agency said the digital records showed a consistent single-user access pattern.

“NTA’s web-activity records indicate that the city change in this case was made through the candidate’s own registered login during the open correction window, with a consistent single-user access pattern," the agency said.

Centre Changed After Family’s Request

The NTA said it received an informal request on the evening of June 19—just 48 hours before the examination—to shift the candidate’s centre from Abu Dhabi to Nagpur.

Despite the overseas centre having been selected earlier, the agency said it immediately initiated the process of changing the examination city.

Officials also contacted the candidate’s father on June 19 to help complete the required formalities.

Abu Dhabi Centre Viewed Multiple Times

The agency further stated that its records showed three separate interactions related to the Abu Dhabi centre.

According to the NTA, the examination city was changed to Abu Dhabi once using the candidate’s credentials, while on two other occasions the Abu Dhabi centre details were viewed through the same account.

“Despite this, NTA has accorded to the aspirant’s request and the change of centre was actioned," the agency said.

Over 3 Lakh Candidates Used Correction Window

The NTA noted that after NEET-UG 2026 was rescheduled to June 21, it reopened the examination-city correction window to assist candidates.

According to the agency, around 3.2 lakh candidates used the correction facility, and more than 99.5 per cent were allotted their preferred examination cities.

Reiterating its “student-first" approach, the NTA said its priority was to ensure that no candidate missed the examination because of an administrative dispute or uncertainty.

The clarification comes amid heightened scrutiny of examination arrangements ahead of the nationwide medical entrance test.
