MCC withdraws NEET UG round 2 result due to data error
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has withdrawn the final seat allotment for Round 2 of NEET UG 2025 due to a significant data error. A government medical college inadvertently submitted double the number of available seats, leading to the allocation of non-existent seats to candidates.
As a result, the MCC has halted the reporting process and plans to revise the allotment. A new final result will be published on the official website, mcc.nic.in.
Background of the error
The error occurred when a government medical college submitted an inflated seat matrix, reporting double the actual number of available seats. This led to the allocation of non-existent seats to candidates in the Round 2 allotment. Upon discovering the discrepancy, the MCC decided to withdraw the final result announced on September 18, 2025, and halt the reporting process to rectify the issue. The official notice issued by MCC can be accessed by clicking on the link here.
Impact on candidates
Over 31,000 candidates were initially allotted seats in this round, with more than 2,400 receiving upgraded seats. However, due to the data error, these allotments are now under review. Candidates are advised to refrain from reporting to the allotted institutions until the revised allotment is published. The MCC has assured that a corrected final result will be released soon on the official portal.
Next steps for aspirants
Aspirants are urged to regularly check the official MCC website for updates on the revised seat allotment. It is crucial to await the new allotment before taking any further steps, such as reporting to the allotted colleges or making any payments. The MCC has emphasised the importance of adhering to the revised schedule to ensure a smooth admission process.
