A minor neighbourhood disagreement in a village on the outskirts of Bengaluru has ended in tragedy, with a 34-year-old man losing his life days after sustaining injuries in an alleged assault.
The incident took place in Ketaganahalli village near Bidadi and has left residents shocked over how a routine evening dispute escalated into a fatal outcome.
The deceased has been identified as Vinod Kumar Shaini, a native of Rajasthan who was employed at a local transport company. According to police, he had been suffering from asthma.
What Led to the Altercation
The incident occurred on the evening of February 7. Police sources said Shaini was coughing loudly due to his medical condition. He was suffering from asthma. His neighbours allegedly confronted him over the persistent coughing.

Following the incident, Shaini was admitted to a private hospital in Bidadi. Doctors performed surgery to treat the neck injuries he had sustained.
Despite medical intervention, his condition remained critical. After battling complications for several days, he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday night, February 11.
Case Registered, Probe Continues
The Bidadi police, under the Bengaluru South district, have registered a case of unnatural death under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Officials have stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed once the post-mortem report is received as reported by The New Indian Express.
Further investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events and fix responsibility.
The incident has raised concerns in the locality, highlighting how quickly disputes can spiral, particularly when underlying health conditions and misunderstandings are involved.
