 JSW Motors begins dealer expansion

JSW Group is preparing to enter India’s passenger vehicle market with a new automotive brand, JSW Motors. The company has started inviting applications from prospective dealer partners across the country, indicating that groundwork for its sales network is now in progress ahead of its first vehicle launch.The new venture represents JSW’s independent push into the passenger vehicle segment under its own brand name. While the group already owns a stake in MG Motor India, JSW Motors will function as a separate entity and will focus on new energy vehicles, including electric and hybrid models.As part of its initial expansion plans, the company recently issued a full-page newspaper advertisement seeking dealer partners.

The advertisement also featured a teaser image of an SUV, suggesting that an SUV will be the first product from JSW Motors in India.JSW Motors has confirmed that its vehicles will be manufactured at a new plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. The facility is expected to begin operations in phases, with the company targeting the launch of its first model around 2026.

The upcoming SUV is expected to be positioned in the mid-size segment and could be offered with either a plug-in hybrid or fully electric powertrain.

Industry estimates suggest that the model may be locally assembled and priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 30 lakh, depending on the version.If the company’s plans move forward as expected, JSW Motors could become one of the few Indian-owned passenger vehicle manufacturers.
