New leadership takes oath: Dhanbad's mayor-elect and councillors to be sworn in on March 18; Deputy mayor and vice-chairperson elections follow

Dhanbad: The mayor-elect and ward councillors of the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation (DMC), along with the chairperson and ward councillors of the Chirkunda Municipal Council, will take oath on March 18 at the district headquarters.Following the oath-taking ceremony, the process for the election of the deputy mayor of the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation and the vice-chairperson of the Chirkunda Municipal Council will be conducted as per the scheduled timetable. The filing of nomination papers will take place from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm, after which the list of valid candidates will be prepared between 1 pm and 1:30 pm.

Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations between 1:30 pm and 1:45 pm. Preparations of ballot papers will be done from 1:45 pm to 2:15 pm, while voting for the posts of deputy mayor and vice-chairperson will be held from 2:15 pm to 3 pm.The counting of votes will be conducted from 3 pm to 3:15 pm, followed by the declaration of results and issuance of election certificates between 3:15 pm and 3:30 pm. The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected deputy mayor and vice-chairperson will be held between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm.

Notably, BJP leader and former Jharia MLA Sanjeev Singh will take oath as the Mayor of Dhanbad.Besides, councillors elected from 55 wards will also participate in the oath ceremony. The district administration has completed most of the preparations for the event.
