Strict security checks at testing gates delayed medical aspirants under a punishing monsoon heatwave at Re-NEET centres in Ludhiana on Sunday
Ludhiana: Thousands of medical aspirants across India faced a gruelling test of adaptability on Sunday as a surprise shift in subject difficulty blindsided candidates sitting for the re-conducted National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).The exam — ordered as a retake following the cancellation of the initial test over widespread irregularities — elicited mixed reactions, though the prevailing sentiment among students exiting examination centres was one of frustration over a sudden change in paper design. In a reversal of the previous cancelled session, candidates reported that the biology section was unexpectedly straightforward, while the physics and chemistry modules required far deeper analytical understanding.
The pivot caught many off guard, as a majority of students had spent weeks intensively reviewing biology after that section proved highly complex in the initial testing round."It was difficult for me and my friends this time," said candidate Tivishya. "I felt much more confident about my performance in the first exam before it was canceled, but I tried my best once again."For students who tailored their study regimens entirely around the previous paper's architecture, the reconfigured exam felt like a tactical ambush.
"Our primary focus was on biology because it was so tricky last time," candidate Ravleen explained. "But as a twist, physics and chemistry were the difficult sections today. The questions required a level of conceptual depth that was hard to manage under the time constraints."However, the second opportunity proved to be a redeeming lifeline for some. Candidates who underperformed during the initial testing window viewed the retake as an unexpected clean slate."I am much more confident this time," said candidate Sahil. "Personal issues disrupted my preparation for the first attempt, but this session gave me a fair chance to deliver my best shot."
