Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) promised to construct new roads on the forest route to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles and eliminate traffic congestion during the upcoming Medaram Maha Jatara, scheduled for January 28-31, 2026.
The Kondai bridge, being constructed at a cost of ₹16.5 crore, is expected to be completed by the time of the Maha Jatara. To inspect the ongoing works at Medaram, Minister Seethakka, accompanied by Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Shabarish, visited Medaram and assessed the condition of the surrounding roads on a bike.
Emphasising the importance of road infrastructure, Minister Seethakka directed officials to widen existing roads and construct new ones to accommodate the anticipated large number of devotees. “We are constructing new road routes through the forest area to ensure that devotees can reach the Medaram Sammakka-Sarakka tribal shrine without any problems,” she said. The new road routes include a road from Kondaparthi to Padikapuram via Gonepalli and Mutthapuram, road development from Kalvapalli to Kannepalli, the construction of a BT road on the route from Kalvapalli to Oortam, the development of forest paths, and a new road route to Oortam via Chinnaboinapalli for devotees coming from Chhattisgarh and erstwhile Khammam district.
In addition to road infrastructure, the district administration is working on other essential facilities, including parking spaces in forest areas, earthen roads and BT roads. Dividers will also be installed to ensure that devotees can move without inconvenience. The State government recently sanctioned ₹150 crore for the Maha Jatara, which will be used for permanent developmental projects and essential infrastructure.
