Four pairs of trains to stop at Taraboi
Bhubaneswar: To boost regional connectivity, a new passenger halt was inaugurated on Wednesday at Taraboi, strategically positioned between Khurda Road and Khurda Town on the Khurda Road-Balangir railway line.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi attended the ceremony and emphasised the station’s potential to transform local commuting and bolster educational access.“This new facility is a game-changer for the residents of Taraboi and neighbouring gram panchayats,” Sarangi said. “It will benefit students and faculty from prestigious institutes like IIT Bhubaneswar and NISER Bhubaneswar, enhancing their daily commute.
Moreover, it will improve access to healthcare and promote tourism to historic sites such as Barunei hills, Khurda fort and Barunei Temple.”Alok Tripathi, divisional railway manager,Khurda Road, underscored the station’s role in fulfilling a long-standing local demand. “Taraboi passenger halt is a testament to railways’ commitment to inclusive development and enhanced regional connectivity,” he said.Approved by the Railway Board in Jan 2024, the station’s construction was completed this month.
It is set to serve over five gram panchayats, equipped with modern amenities such as drinking water facilities, a waiting hall, platform shelter, adequate lighting and sanitation facilities.Starting Wednesday, four pairs of trains will stop at Taraboi, significantly easing travel for commuters.
